May is almost here! A year ago I was very busy in the preparation for our wedding... it was an exciting time and so very hectic... but I kind of miss it. I have something fun to look forward to in a couple weeks though! I recently purchased a Groupon getaway deal for our 1 year anniversary. I knew it would be important to get away and have some time away from our busy life. Kyle always is working and we hardly have much time to just relax together and have fun. So I have two nights booked at an adorable inn in Southern Vermont. It's not too far away, yet far enough for us to feel like we are "getting away". I'm really excited and can't wait! We'll be going to 11th-13th of May, so I think it will be perfect before all of the summer rush begins.

On top of that, Kyle has been moving right along in the hiring process for the Maine State Police. He has passed the Oral Board, gotten through the background interview, and now is waiting to hear back to see if he passed that. We should hear within the next two weeks, I'm assuming. There are still a few more steps. If he can pass everything, he will most likely be in the police academy by fall... but that is only if it continues to go at a good pace and he can pass everything else. We are praying that this might be "the year" that we have been waiting for. I know that it would be a long and hard year, but it will be good to finally be to the place we have been talking about for years.

Thanks for reading and keeping up with my blog even though I am not always able to post! Have a lovely day. :)

Spring?

Since when did spring weather come around in March... In New England? It's okay with me. This warm weather, sunshine and chirping birds certainly lifts my spirits! That gloomy, winter weather was starting to get rather depressing.

Anyway, this week Kyle and I are at my parents watching Noah. The family decided to sneak away for a few days while they all had their schedules opened up. I will say, I am enjoying it very much! I love being in the country. I also love taking advantage of using the internet and catching up on Food Network shows. :) I have missed having that connection with the internet world, especially being able to blog my life and look up ideas and recipes.

Kyle is currently in the process of going through things with the Maine State Police. He sent in his application a while ago and has an Oral Board on Friday. He's a little nervous, but has been preparing for it for quite a while! I know he will do absolutely great, and am just praying he will have a clear mind as he goes in and answers lots of questions! I know when I am nervous it is so hard to think through things...

I am excited about adding another housecleaning job to my schedule! Now I have a house to clean once every week, so it is nice to have that little extra money coming in. I like to keep busy. Although being home and trying to keep everything in order and be all domestic-like can keep me busy, it is still nice to be able to do something "different" during the week.

Well, we are coming up on our 10 months of being married. I can't believe that in two months we will have been married a year! I know people always say it flies by, but I never expected it to go by THAT fast! With spring being here already (hopefully for good!), it brings back memories of last year when I was busy planning our wedding. Wish I could do it again! I really miss the excitement... just not the stress. Hehe. We hope to be able to get away for a couple days for our anniversary, but we will see!

Well, I am off to lay in the sun! Ahh, today will be tough. ;) Do enjoy this gorgeous weather - we don't always get days like this!

Lots of Love,

Catchin' Up

Three months of no blogging... I almost forgot about my blog for a while now. We still do not have any internet connection, and we probably won't until we move to the next place (whenever that is!). Although I would love to keep up with this blog, it's just not possible to do it all on my phone. So, here's a little update on us. :)

Well we are still in our beautiful apartment, and I am constantly trying to update it and take on new projects to make it feel like ours. I think we have done a good job with it, and it has come a very long way! Christmas came and went very quickly, although we had a very busy Christmas weekend visiting the many relatives we now have with our families combined. It was fun though, and I was sad our long weekend was over.

Kyle still works around the clock, leaving hardly any time for us to really spend together. I'm praying for the day he can work more normal hours, and we can finally be able to get things done together. I especially miss him not being able to come to church on Wednesday nights with me. :-/ Anyway... currently, we are in Maine. Our most beloved state. ;) Kyle is here for the second phase of his training for the law enforcement pre-service at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. We are here for two weeks. Kyle is enjoying it very much and can't wait to get it done so we can continue to move on in his pursuit for a police career.

As for me, well, I just am trying to be the best wife I can and take care of my husband and my home. Pretty simple sounding, but yet a big responsibility if you want to do it right! I am enjoying the flexible schedule. It also gives me a lot of time to focus more on being healthy and keeping in shape. I've been working on that the last two weeks and have noticed an incredible difference in how I feel! Low calorie foods, no refined sugars or sweets, lots and lots of water, a good amount of protein and fiber... I think the no sugar and lots of water has helped me the most.

I wish I had been able to post pictures of my recent projects... maybe I will sometime soon. That's another thing I like about being home - I have more time to spend being creative and crafting things.

Anyway, I think I'll go for now. Life doesn't seem very exciting to me at the moment, but when I look back at all that has happened I realize I have a lot to be thankful for! :)

Wishing you a day full of many blessings. <3

No internet

Well we are moved into our new place, but we do not have anything hooked up yet. Like heat and internet... But we do have hot water so its all good. I'm using my phone to blog tonight... Hopefully I can pull my house together soon so I can post pictures of the new place. It is much nicer than our last place with more room! I'm so thankful and excited.

But anyway that's it for now!

Dining set!

This is my awesome deal I found on Craigslist! Almost brand new.

Busy, Busy, Busy.

Does the title hint at anything?!?!

I'm so busy. But I am happy with that. At least at night I fall asleep after two minutes. That might be linked with exhaustion, but hey, it's okay. I have been working at the new apartment almost every day. Painting, cleaning, painting... the painting is a long process, especially when dad wants to do extra things that slow me down. But he is such a good contractor in that he always wants to do things right and fix them even when other people would just look over it! I have painted all the trim and baseboard in the house white so it really makes the walls pop and gives it a fresh, clean look! I've been able to paint colors in most of the rooms, which also helps with the appearance. I try to get over there in the late mornings and get started, then come home late afternoon and work on packing. By the end of the day, I can't keep my eyes open. I am certainly getting a lot of exercise and am keeping busy.

Today I didn't work at the house because I was waiting for the mudding on the ceiling to dry... so wouldn't you know, today I did not feel well and had to take a nap. THAT is what happens when I stop for breath!

Tomorrow I have my housekeeping job in the morning then I will go right over to finish the painting. I should be done tomorrow and then it is clean, clean, clean to make it ready for all my stuff! We are moving it all in on Saturday. There are still a bunch of other things to get done, but some of those can be done after moving.

It is nice to be seeing new colors in the trees as the days get colder. I think it will be an okay fall as long as the weather stays cold... I so wish we could take a trip north to see the foliage, but the driving around here will have to do! I am so excited to go apple picking with my hubby... if that ever happens. I really hope so! Part of the fun of apple picking at a farm is the homemade apple cider donuts! Mm-mmm.

Well I need to get to bed. Long day tomorrow... but I am ever excited! Can't wait to share before and after pictures... it will be a major transformation when it is done!

Good day

Today was a change-up with the weather, but I did love it even still. Rain is okay once in a while. C'mon, it's fall! Was pretty chilly again today and it just made me wanna cuddle under my fleece blanket all day and do nothing... but needless to say, there was much to do. Kyle and I got up this morning and headed over to look at the house my parents purchased... well actually it is a triple-decker home that they are renting out. And guess who is renting from them? My sister and her husband get the 2nd floor and guesie who gets the first? Haha, yep. We decided to rent from them, seeing as it is a MUCH nicer place than we have now and there are so many pros to the decision to move. Really, there are. I am so excited to get all of my things into there. For so long, Kyle and I have been living out of bins (well, our clothes have) and a lot of my furniture and other items have not yet made it out of my parent's attic because we don't have room for it here. All that to say, we are moving. And I'm so excited. Three weeks and I will be onto a first floor beautiful apartment with more space and my own porch!! Lol. I've been bugging Kyle to promise me we will buy pumpkins and mums to put on our porch... I think he's gotten the point. Haha.

We came home and tidied up the house a bit together (always so much more fun). I went and got bloodwork done this afternoon then headed to church to deliver my JOY club and Kid's Club snack. Fruit kabobs with a variety of fruit on them... along with a fruit dip. Went over really well with the older kids and adults... the young-ins weren't so fond of it, but it was better than a highly packed sugar sweet. :)

And now I have a chicken noodle soup simmering on the stove. Perfect for a cold, rainy evening. I decided to whip up some Parmesan biscuits as well. Mmm-mm.
