Memorial Day Weekend Trip to Maine

Last weekend we went up to Maine on Saturday morning to spend time with Kyle's family at Uncle Jeff's home on the ocean. Here are a few photos of our little time away.

When we first arrived to York, ME this is what the weather was like. We were bummed the whole weekend would be like this.

Sunday cleared up a bit, though still pretty chilly.

The back deck of Uncle Jeff's house (mansion, more like!)

Relaxing on Sunday.
Handsome as ever - ready for church. ;)

The Nubble Lighthouse.

Us (and baby). ;)

Pesky, but pretty, seagulls.

On Memorial Day the weather warmed up considerably and we went for a walk on the beach... the waves had brought in a ton of seaweed, so it wasn't exactly the most pleasant walk!

About halfway up the strip of land is where Uncle Jeff's house is.

The kitchen area. This house is amazing!

Prenatal Visit #2

Today I made my second visit to Saint Vincent's Hospital to meet with a midwife. It was a wonderful visit as I was finally able to hear our baby's heart beating! Almost immediately, the midwife was able to detect it and it was so amazing to be assured that the baby is well and growing! I'm exactly where I should be and am completely healthy. Blood pressure was awesome, I had a perfect weight gain, and everything seemed to be normal. Yay. :)

It has been hard wondering how everything is going since I can't feel the baby. But I am starting to show more and more and after hearing the heartbeat, it has been very reassuring that all is well! In one more month, I go for another visit and shortly after that we will have an ultrasound to find out what we are having. Things are getting more exciting!

This week our baby is the size of an orange, measures 4 inches long (from head to rump) and weighs around 2.5 ounces! Its legs outmeasure its arms now... it is becoming more normally proportioned! I am feeling just fine and am thankful that the headaches have not been back so far.

I love being pregnant. It's the greatest privilege to be able to carry and a grow a child in my belly! I'm excited for the months ahead. :) I am getting more and more anxious to meet this baby!

A Lemon

At week 14, our little one is the size of a lemon! Baby is now around 3.5 inches long and weighs about 1.5 ounces... it has almost doubled in weight since last week. It is probably in there sucking it's thumb and wiggling its tiny toes... along with all the movement it has been doing. At this week, its kidneys, liver and spleen are now in working order. Baby is growing at a speedy rate. Mommy is still dragging from time to time and needs lots of sleep and nutrients to fuel the baby's growth!

This is probably the last week I will be able make a heart around the fruit... it is getting too big! Yay!

Please do not mind the water spot on my shirt... it was a little damp outside today! ;)

A Lime

This week, our baby is the size of a lime. Even though we can't feel it yet, the baby is moving around a lot and it's tooth buds, hair follicles and nail beds are beginning to form! The fingers and toes aren't webbed anymore and it is starting to look more like a baby. It is approximately 1.6 inches long now, and weighs about .25 ounces. Though still teensie-tiny, it is growing at a fast rate!

Week 11

Week 11 is here and not many changes have taken place yet. The only things reminding me I am pregnant is the constant fatigue and headaches that pop up out of nowhere at any given time!

My first prenatal visit was today, and lasted for quite a time. I got to meet my first nurse midwife and she did a full physical exam, a couple tests, and then tried to check for the baby's heartbeat. Unfortunately, it is either too early to hear or she wasn't able to find it in time before her tool (what is it called again?) died. I was quite disappointed, as I was expecting to hear that miraculous sound for the first time today. She was very kind, though, and offered for me to come back in 2 weeks if I really wanted to hear the heartbeat before my next appointment in 4 weeks! We did hear the baby moving around a lot, so that was reassuring. :)

I seem to be pretty healthy, though my blood pressure was a bit high and my heart rate seemed high too. She checked my heart multiple times throughout the visit and it remained the same, so we are assuming that is "normal" for me. Thankfully, I have not gained any weight (I have actually lost a couple pounds) and seem to be on track with everything. I was so glad when she didn't try to push me into getting genetic screening and testing done later on. I said NO to all of that and she was perfectly okay with that. She was also happy to hear I planned to breastfeed, so it is nice to have a midwife (or at least one of them) who is okay with those decisions.

May 30th is my next appointment, so by then I am sure I will have a bump! I am planning to start taking pregnancy photos this week.
